With over 600M tablets and 4 billion smartphones sold until 2014, the market penetration of mobile devices has been meteoric and would go beyound that of TV sets (see the article from MIT Technology Review).
According to the Ericsson Mobility Report 2014, 90% of the world's population over 6 years old will have a mobile phone by 2020, with smartphone subscriptions expected to top 6 billions.
Global device share (2014)
For every PC sold in 2014, one tablet and seven smartphones are shipped, to the extend that Microsft admitted that Windows device share is just 14%.
Smartphones and tablets are redefining the way we interact with information, and many organizations have managed to orchestrate mobile device management and security into their IT planning. Some of them are even initiating and improving application development, reliability and security for mobile applications.
Is your business prepared for the pace of change ahead? Have you planned how to get the most out of mobility investments, given the constraints of your IT infrastructures?
